Best settings for your first interview
- Pick a conversation interview. (Developers can also pick a coding interview in Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, Java, C++ or Go.)
- Type the role and choose your level (six levels, Intern to Principal).
- Paste the job post, and the company name if you like. The interviewer asks about what that job needs.
- Turn on "Use my CV" so the interviewer asks about your own experience.
- Choose the focus: technical, behavioral, system design, situational (up to all four).
- Interviewer: Supportive for the first run. Length: 10 minutes. Pick your language (50 to choose from).
- Wear headphones. The camera is optional.
The week before the real interview: 4 steps
- About a week before: paste the job post and do a 10-minute interview with the Supportive interviewer.
- Read the report: find your lowest rubric score and the "Fix this first" point, then rebuild the stronger answers in your own words.
- Run the same interview again and watch how the verdict moves.
- In the last days: do a 20 to 30-minute run with the Demanding interviewer. It pushes for numbers and trade-offs, so the real one holds fewer surprises.
Get ready for the follow-up question
When an answer stays general, the interviewer asks for an example, numbers or your own part. Before each answer, check three things:
- What happened, and what did I do?
- Which number shows the result?
- What was my part?
What's in the report
- A hiring verdict from "Strong hire" to "No hire"
- A score out of 100 and a five-part rubric: content, structure, clarity, expertise, communication
- The sentence you said, next to every score
- "Fix this first": the one change that would help your next interview most
- Feedback and a stronger answer for every question
There's no feedback during the call, just like a real interview; it all comes in the report.
Credits
A mock interview costs 1 credit a minute (20 minutes = 20 credits); you need at least 5 credits to start.
