Open-source apps that replace subscriptions

1. Immich: instead of Google Photos / iCloud Photos Self-hosted photo and video backup with mobile apps. AGPL-3.0, 116.9k stars, commits this week. Setup: install guide at docs.immich.app/install/requirements. Try it first at demo.immich.app. Their own warning: keep a 3-2-1 backup of your photos, Immich is not your only copy. https://github.com/immich-app/immich

2. Nextcloud: instead of Dropbox / Google Drive Files, contacts and calendars on a server you choose, synced across your devices. AGPL-3.0, 37.2k stars. Setup: install it yourself (nextcloud.com/install) or sign up with one of their hosting providers. https://github.com/nextcloud/server

3. AppFlowy: instead of Notion Notes, wikis, projects and tasks. AGPL-3.0, 77.6k stars. The desktop app runs on macOS, Windows and Linux; self-hosting has a step-by-step guide on appflowy.com/docs. 4. Vaultwarden: your own password manager server An unofficial Bitwarden-compatible server, works with the official Bitwarden apps and browser extensions. AGPL-3.0, 69.4k stars. Setup: one Docker container (docker pull vaultwarden/server). The web vault needs HTTPS, so put it behind a reverse proxy. Before you cancel anything: "free" means free software. You still need a machine to run it (a NAS, an old PC or a small VPS), you handle updates, and you keep your own backups.
