Claude Slides Is Now Free: A Deck Prompt and PowerPoint Export Steps

Key takeaways

  • On October 8, 2026, Anthropic said Claude Slides, Docs, and Design are out of beta and available on every plan, including Free.
  • Ask for a deck in any conversation. Claude drafts it, you edit any slide yourself or ask Claude to change it, and you can present straight from Claude.
  • Download the deck as PowerPoint or PDF, or send it to Google Slides as an editable file. You can also share it by link. Whoever opens the link needs a Claude account.
  • This work counts toward your plan's usage limits. A full deck uses more of it than a normal message. The free plan's limit is low, so plan your prompt before you send it.
  • Below: a copy-paste deck prompt, a prompt for your company colors, export and sharing steps, and one example prompt each for Docs and Design.

What this page is

This is the page behind the reel. Comment SLIDES and you land here: the deck prompt I promised, the steps to get a PowerPoint file out, and the same treatment for Docs and Design.

Everything here comes from Anthropic's October 8 announcement, the September 16 launch post, and the Claude help center. Features roll out and change. If something here disagrees with those pages, trust the pages.

What changed on October 8

Anthropic launched Docs and Slides, and moved Design into the chat, on September 16. At that point all three were in beta on paid plans. On October 8, the announcement said: "Docs, Slides, and Design are out of beta and available on every plan, including Free."

ToolWhat it doesExport
SlidesDrafts a deck from your request. Edit slides, comment on a slide for Claude, present from Claude.PowerPoint, PDF, Google Slides
DocsYou and Claude write a document together.Word, PDF, Markdown, Google Docs
DesignDesigns, interactive prototypes, and one-pagers, inside the chat.PDF, PowerPoint, Google Slides, HTML, .zip, and other tools

All three live at a shareable link you can open on your phone.

Before you start

  • Turn on file creation. The help center says these need "Cloud code execution and file creation" turned on in your settings.
  • Don't see it yet? New features can reach accounts in stages. Try Claude on the web, and give it a few days.
  • On Enterprise, the three turn on by default on October 15, 2026. An owner can turn them on sooner.
  • Mind the limit. Slides, Docs, and Design count toward the same usage limits as the rest of Claude. On the free plan, one long deck can use a big part of it.

The deck prompt

A deck is only as good as the request. Claude can't guess your audience, your goal, or how many slides fit your meeting. This prompt gives it all five things it needs: topic, audience, slide count, style, and a source.

Make a [number]-slide deck.

Topic: [what the deck is about]
Audience: [who will see it and what they already know]
Goal: [what they should decide, approve, or remember after the last slide]
Source: use the attached [file] as the main source. Don't add numbers that aren't in it.
Structure: a title slide, then [sections], and a final slide with [next steps / the ask].
Style: [clean and minimal / bold and colorful]. One idea per slide. Each headline states the point as a full sentence. No more than three bullets per slide.
Language: [English]

Before you build it, show me the outline as a numbered list of slide titles and wait for my OK.

The last line matters most on the free plan. Fixing an outline costs one short message. Rebuilding a finished deck costs a lot more of your limit.

Here's the prompt filled in:

Make an 8-slide deck.

Topic: our Q3 sales results
Audience: the leadership team. They know the business but haven't seen these numbers.
Goal: approve one extra sales hire for Q4.
Source: use the attached Q3 report as the main source. Don't add numbers that aren't in it.
Structure: a title slide, then results vs. target, what worked, what didn't, the pipeline for Q4, and a final slide with the hiring ask and its cost.
Style: clean and minimal. One idea per slide. Each headline states the point as a full sentence. No more than three bullets per slide.
Language: English

Before you build it, show me the outline as a numbered list of slide titles and wait for my OK.

Fixing slides after the draft

Click a slide and edit it yourself, or leave a comment on that slide for Claude. For bigger changes, ask in the chat and name the slide:

On slide 3, replace the bullet list with a simple bar chart of the same numbers.
Slide 5 has too much text. Cut it to one headline and three short points.
Make every headline a full sentence that states the takeaway, not a topic label.

Group your fixes into one message where you can. Fewer messages, less of your limit.

Make it use your company colors

On the free plan, put your brand in the prompt. Send this with your deck prompt, or after the draft:

Use our brand on every slide:
- Primary color: #[hex] for headlines and key numbers
- Accent color: #[hex] for highlights and charts
- Background: #[hex]
- Font: [font name], or the closest one you have
- Logo: the attached logo, small, bottom-right on every slide except the title slide
Keep these colors in every chart too.

Don't know your hex codes? Attach an old deck or a PDF that already looks right and add: "Match the colors, fonts, and layout of the attached deck."

On Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise you can go one step further. A design system (in beta) stores your colors, fonts, and components once, and every new design and deck picks them up. You build it from brand assets, a well-designed PowerPoint or PDF, or a codebase.

  1. Open the deck in Claude. You'll also find it later in the Artifacts tab in your sidebar.
  2. Present from the toolbar if you want to show it straight from Claude.
  3. Export and pick PowerPoint, PDF, or Google Slides. Anthropic says the PowerPoint and PDF downloads look like what you made in the editor. Google Slides gets an editable copy.
  4. Share by link if you'd rather send a link than a file. It opens on a phone too.

Two things to know about links:

  • The viewer needs a Claude account. The help center says people without one can't open a shared artifact, even with the link. If the person you're sending it to doesn't use Claude, send the PowerPoint or PDF.
  • On Team and Enterprise, link sharing outside your organization only works if an admin allows it.

Open the downloaded file once before you send it. Check fonts, charts, and anything near the edge of a slide.

Docs: an example prompt

Start a request with /docs, or just ask for a document. Say what it's for, who will read it, and what it should cover:

/docs Write a one-page project brief from the attached notes.
Audience: two freelancers joining next week. They haven't seen the project.
Sections: goal, deadline, what's in scope, what's out of scope, who to ask about what.
Plain language. Short paragraphs. No jargon.

Type directly in the doc, or select text and comment with @Claude to ask for an edit. Export to Word, PDF, Markdown, or Google Docs. A doc can also become a deck: ask Claude to turn it into a presentation with Claude Slides.

Design: an example prompt

Design makes visual work: one-pagers, landing pages, prototypes. Ask in any conversation:

Make a one-page flyer for our Saturday coffee-tasting event.
Include: date, time, address, the three coffees we'll pour, and a big "Reserve a seat" button.
Warm colors. It should look good on a phone.

Change the overall look in the chat, click an element to ask for a targeted change, or drag and resize things yourself. Export as PDF, PowerPoint, Google Slides, standalone HTML, or a .zip.

Save your free-plan limit

  • Outline first. Approve slide titles before Claude builds anything.
  • Pick a realistic slide count. Eight focused slides beat twenty thin ones, and cost less.
  • Batch your fixes. One message with five changes, not five messages.
  • Type small fixes yourself. A typo or a number is faster to fix by hand than to ask for.
  • Attach the source. A deck built from your file needs fewer correction rounds than one built from a vague request.

FAQ

Is Claude Slides really free?

Yes. Anthropic's October 8 announcement says Docs, Slides, and Design are available on every plan, including Free. The work still counts toward your plan's usage limits, and the free plan's limit is the lowest.

I'm on the free plan and I don't see it. What do I do?

Check that "Cloud code execution and file creation" is on in your settings. Then try Claude on the web. New features can reach accounts in stages, so give it a few days.

Can I edit the deck in PowerPoint?

Download it as PowerPoint and open it there. For an editable online copy, send it to Google Slides.

Can someone without Claude open my shared deck?

Not through the link. Everyone needs a Claude account to open a shared artifact. Send them the PowerPoint or PDF instead.

What about Claude Dashboards and Claude Motion?

They were announced the same day, but they're not on the free plan. Dashboards is in beta on paid plans. Motion is in beta on Team and Enterprise: type /motion to make an animation and download it as MP4.

Try it

Pick the next presentation on your calendar. Fill in the deck prompt, attach your source file, approve the outline, then export to PowerPoint. If the first draft is close but not right, the slide-fix prompts above get you the rest of the way.
